We recently assisted with a large installation of our 2 part epoxy garage floor paint coating working alongside the client and with external contractors to complete this MOT inspection bay. We've helped lots of companies within the automotive/ car repair industry and have a wealth of experience within this field. These area sizes tend to be large and more often than not have oil contaminants as well as grease stains due to the type of work being carried out. It is critical these areas are taken care of within the preparation stage to ensure durability of the subsequent epoxy coating. This is where our technical team are able to advise from specification and application guidance right through to completion.
What Was The Brief?
The client; Islington Motor Group are an established new and used car dealer with showrooms throughout Trowbridge. They offer aftersales services such as MOT's, services and repairs and it was the MOT inspection area that they required our assistance with. The client requested a highly durable coating that would be able to withstand heavy vehicle traffic along with being easy to clean. The coating must be able to withstand oil, petrol and many other chemicals as well as being aesthetically pleasing.
Brief Overview:
Area Size – 650m2
Durability Required – High Durable
Product – 2 Part High Build Epoxy Resin + Oil Tolerant Primer
How Did We Help?
After initially discussing the brief with the client Mark, from our technical team headed up the project by firstly carrying out a virtual site inspection. This initial inspection allowed us to get a feel for the project and understand the area size as well as giving us an idea on potential products. An on-site inspection was then arranged with the client where we also discussed preparation and installation. The client agreed they would require an external contractor which was sourced and approved by us. Kurt Singleton Flooring Ltd were identified as a recommended contractor who were able to work alongside Mark to carry out any recommended preparation work as well as installation.
On the physical inspection it was identified that the area was heavily soiled with oil and grease, therefore an oil tolerant primer was advised along with 2 coats of our epoxy garage floor coating.
The external contractors had a wealth of experience preparing the floor. As instructed by Mark the floor was Diamond ground to clean, dry concrete ensuring a smooth area whilst also creating a key for the epoxy to adhere to. The installation was then carried out using 1 coat of Resincoat Oil Tolerant Primer followed by 2 coats of Resincoat Epoxy Garage Floor Paint.
What Was The Finished Result?
The project was completed as planned, within the desired time schedule with the client being exceptionally happy with the finished result. See comments below from Paul Jones, Managing Director of the Islington Motor Group:
“We first heard about Resincoat from their social media adverts on Facebook. Having looked at some of their projects online, I decided to contact them in connection with the works we were looking to have carried out in our commercial workshops at our Ford dealership. The team at Resincoat attended the site and put us in contact with one of their recommended contractors to undertake the work. The attention to detail and promptness of response from Resincoat and their contractor was excellent throughout and they saved us money to boot."
